The Brno Exhibition Center has been the center of international fairs in the Czech Republic and in Central Europe for more than 70 years. Brno has been known worldwide as the city of exhibitions and fairs for more than seven tens of years. The Brno Exhibition Center with its permanent and modern halls was built for the Exhibition of Contemporary Culture on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic. The Exhibition was staged from 26 May to the end of September 1928 on 30000 sqm and attended by a record number of 2700000 visitors. The magnificent design of the exhibition center was an excellent work of the functionalist Czechoslovak architects of the twenties and until 1938 more than 50 exhibitions were held there at the prewar time. International fairs, however, did not take place before World War 2 in Brno. At present the premises of the Brno Exhibition Center cover the total area of 65 ha offering 196000 sqm of the gross exhibition area, of which 107600 sqm indoor and 89000 sqm open areas. By its architecture and situation the Brno Exhibition Center ranks among the most magnificent European exhibition sites. In 2000 it was awarded the title “Building of the Century” for its unique architecture. City transport in Brno will bring you from the city centre to the Exhibition Centre by tram No. 1 or by bus No. 84 and 44 (direction Pisarky).
