Le Craft produces the espresso cup by David Lynch www.craft-limoges.org

Since 1993, the Research Centre for Ceramics, based in Limoges, is wagering on artistic innovation as a medium for the development and perceived value increase of products. The centre welcomes artists and designers in order to develop their visual arts modelling research around ceramic’s creative potential. It calls upon manufacturers to carry out the design projects. Ingo Maurer thus designed a poetic lamp in the shape of a broken egg for the Bernardaud porcelain manufacturer, while George Sowden designed a kitchen sink for the Allia brand of bathroom installations. The renowned names in design such as Martin Szekely, Ron Arad and Sylvain Dubuisson were able to have their designs produced. But also reputed artists such as Win Delvoye, Botis Achour, Martine Aballéa or the Poiriers. Among the ten or so current projects, there are those by Matali Crasset around the theme of porcelain’s texture, the fashion and product designer Maurizio Galante and the designer Satyendra Pakhalé. Le Craft pursues an ambitious production/manufacturing policy for creative projects. After the bold line of Ceram X vases by Pierre Charpin or Philippe Favier's boomerangs, the centre has just produced the Espresso Kit imagined by the film-maker and visual artist David Lynch, within the context of the exhibition which has been dedicated to his work in the Fondation Cartier in Paris. The coffee cup, the tray and the spoon made of Limoges porcelain are co-produced in a numbered series of one hundred copies.
