Hannover Messe 06 Closing Report

HANNOVER MESSE 2006 delivers confirmation of economic upswing 5,175 companies from 66 countries.

After five days, HANNOVER MESSE has once again proven itself to be an effective "litmus test" for the economic upswing, earning top marks from the show's exhibitors. 5,175 firms from 66 countries had their expectations fulfilled, rating the economic outlook for their sectors as better than at any other time in the past three years.
"The German Economy is in Great Spirits"
As summed up by Jürgen R. Thumann, President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI): "All of the surveys conducted over the past few days prove that the German economy is in great spirits. Anyone who came to HANNOVER MESSE this year will have sensed this positive feeling. Now it is up to politicians to capitalize on the mood of confidence among companies. The climate for reform in our country has seldom been so favorable, so now is the time for politicians to act. That is the only way to turn the present economic recovery into a truly sustainable upswing."
155,000 visitors - 154,800 sqm - 44,300 visitors from abroad
155,000 visitors used the 154,800 sqm rented by exhibitors to get a good impression of the capital goods industry's commitment to innovation. Each visitor came into contact with an average of 25 exhibitors, meaning that the fair as a whole generated around four million business contacts. Visitors from abroad reached record levels, accounting for almost 30 percent. Exhibitors particularly benefited from the targeted nature of the inquiries made by the some 44,300 foreign visitors.
The highlight of this year's Partner Country involvement was a visit by India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the show's Opening Ceremony. The role of HANNOVER MESSE 2006 as a prime engine for global dialogue between the worlds of industry and politics was further underscored by the high number of key domestic and foreign political figures engaging in high-level talks.
Trade fair concept right on target
Following the reorganization of the show's content, HANNOVER MESSE 2006 demonstrated a clear thematic profile and the perfect backdrop for representing cutting-edge technologies for industries with their sights firmly set on growth. This year's show has therefore not only consolidated its leading position as the world's most important technology event, but also effectively widened its lead on the competition.
The Chairman of the Exhibitor Advisory Committee, Dietmar Harting, confirmed this positive verdict at the end of the show - "The level of international participation and the large turnout by trade visitors from abroad have significantly increased the appeal of HANNOVER MESSE for our exhibitors. By further emphasizing the key area of industrial automation, expanding on the ultra-relevant theme of energy and selecting the up-and-coming national economy of India as this year's Partner Country, HANNOVER MESSE has once again succeeded in asserting its claim to being the technology event of the year."
HANNOVER MESSE - umbrella event for 10 international flagship trade fairs
