Habitat Valencia Forward 2006 meets its goals

Valencia learns to speak Russian: A spectacular growth in the number of Russian visitors: 46.24% more than at last year’s event. The fair registered 80,023 trade visitors, 14.25% from over 100 countries outside Spain.

HABITAT VALENCIA FORWARD, the brand comprising the International Furniture Fair of Valencia (FIM), the International Decoration and Accessories Fair (DE>CO) and the International Fair of Lighting Fixtures (FIAM), closed its doors on 23rd September, with the firm commitment to maintain the quality and the internationalisation of the event and to keep the same high spirits and enthusiasm in catering for the various needs coming from the habitat sector.
As a whole, the event received 80,023 trade visitors, a figure on a par with last year’s event, fulfilling the goals set by the Organising Committee for this year.
For Miguel Ángel Giménez, president of Habitat Valencia Forward-FIM Division, “an analysis of the data confirms the high quality profile of visitors, with significant purchasing power within the companies they represent”. He went on to say, “we have succeeded in attracting the professionals from the habitat sector we were interested in, and whom we had targeted with our promotional plans, They came to visit our top quality showcase and helped position it as one of the leaders on the international circuit. However, we are aware that our endeavours should continue focusing on our international goals.”
Out of the total visitors, 14.25% came from over 100 countries outside Spain. As far as the origin is concerned, the top positions in the ranking are the countries in the Eurozone, the natural market for the quality product range at Habitat Valencia Forward. Looking at individual countries, visitors from France, Italy and Germany topped the list.
Similarly, numbers of visitors from Eastern European countries grew by 18.76% when compared with last year’s edition. Particularly worth underscoring was the spectacular growth of buyers from Russia, with 46.24% more trade visitors than last year.
Equally noteworthy is the increase in the number of international buyers from other countries, including United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China or India.
As far as Spain is concerned, leaving local visitors from the Valencian Community aside, Habitat Valencia Forward 2006 registered buyers from all Spanish regions. In this regard, we would make a particular mention for the large number of buyers from Catalonia, Andalusia, Madrid and Murcia.
On another note, Habitat Valencia Forward 2006 accredited a total of 450 journalists, and over one quarter of the members of the media came from abroad, from more than 30 different countries.
A New Show, A New Concept: the Pro-A Show
Habitat Valencia Forward premiered new shows. The fair is renewed and revised every year, and in this edition, one of the main novelties was the Pro-A Show, a space exhibiting for the first time the most innovative products in the Spanish and international habitat sector. Conceived as a club of exclusive brands, the new show managed to differentiate itself from the rest of the fair and succeeded in attracting lots of professionals interested in buying innovation and design products.
This was confirmed by José Manuel Ponz, director of HABITAT VALENCIA FORWARD, who underlined that the fair “welcomed customers from all over the world in search of new trends.” Covering an area of 15,000 square metres, the new space located in Pavilion 7 presented the most innovative products of furniture, decoration, materials, accessories, electronics, bathrooms, kitchen and domotics. Concerning the products on display, particularly noteworthy were the silver armchairs with Swarovsky crystal, optical fibre and porcelain lamps, lacquered crystal and resin furniture, and even machines to work out at home that are unique in the world. “The Pro-A Show will be a core part of the fair in coming years. We have formalised many important projects, and companies have managed to position themselves within the innovation sector,” says Ponz.
These novelties have already become a feature at Habitat Valencia Forward, an event whose first edition has already consolidated itself as an undisputed business platform. We will continue working to create an innovative and promising project in 2007, with new concepts and spaces to attract professionals and turn the fair into the best habitat showcase in the world.
TENDENCIES
Habitat Valencia Forward is now the best showcase to discover the latest tendencies in interiors, furniture and lighting. The fair embraced all the different ambiences in the contemporary home with a product range divided into 12 sections focusing on different styles. As a whole, 1000 plus exhibitors presented their new introductions in the perfect setting to reflect the industry today day and a taste of the design to come.
This year, the tendency defining the new introductions was top quality design for a unique home. Proposals combine colours, new uses, impossible lines and fashionable materials, such as glass, quickly emerging as a major player at the moment. Manufacturers have opted for lacquered crystal, with flowers or abundant silkscreen work, decorating and customising all kinds of furniture. For instance, we had sofas, lamps and accessories inlaid with Swarovsky crystal, and glass tables and furniture on show at the fair.
Vertical elements have been replaced by the horizontality in the product. New formulas tend to be more practical and more comfortable, breaking with the coldness of minimal furniture, guaranteeing comfort and details in finishes. In this regard, manufacturers presented a huge spectrum of colours, curved furniture, retro styles and ergonomic designs. Besides, the rest and relaxation sector stood out with bamboo mattresses restoring energy and armchairs with massagers and sensors incorporated to them.
Avant-garde was at its best in auxiliary furniture and details, exploring and taking risks in design to come up with the coolest products. Imagination is what it’s all about. We saw rugs and carpets of every description (fields of leaves, drawings and messages or with patterns designed by acclaimed illustrators), plastic and moving chairs, or Neo-Baroque lamps, with optical fibre and die-cast designs acting as the perfect decorative element even when they are switched-off.
Meanwhile, the Classic Style continues offering straight, simple and contemporary lines, with oak wood as one of the most important materials and a new tendency to incorporate prefab or pre-mounted plywood and teak plywood. A sector also using silver and gold leaf in decoration, which has returned with a vengeance in Eastern European countries, every fond of classic, baroque and elaborate styles.
Avant-garde, modern, classic, contemporary, nature, rest and relaxation… Habitat Valencia Forward gathers all styles in a showcase embracing furniture, décor and lighting to ensure a comprehensive and varied product offer. In short, the fair has consolidated itself as the perfect setting for quality brands and products paving the way for the future habitat.
