Cutler and Gross will exhibit its exquisite frame collection at Bread and Butter Barcelona January 2008.

Cutler and Gross was founded in 1971 by Graham Cutler and Tony Gross, when they opened their first shop in Knightsbridge stocking hand made frames. Through their mutual passion for innovative design, they spearheaded the revolution that turned eyewear from medical necessity into a key fashion accessory.

Their fashion-forward designs in vivid Perspex, which were ahead of their time, became an instant success when launched in 1982 during Paris Fashion Week. Since then the collection has been developed from a purely sunglass collection to incorporate optical designs, still with the emphasis on fashion.

Cutler and Gross are one of the few eyewear manufactures that hand builds each frame. As a result, their unique look and feel does not only evoke the imagination, but also gives them an edge that makes them instantly recognisable without having to use a logo.

Today, Marie Wilkinson, who has been working with Mr Cutler and Mr Gross since 1982, is the head of design; ensuring that all the designs still receives their personal stamp of approval before being shown internationally. By remaining the leading edge of glamour for decades, the company has not only become legendary for its individuality but one of the most forward thinking opticians in the world.

The Cutler and Gross Vintage Shop opened in 2001, just a stone throw away from the Knightsbridge flagship store. The shop has become a treasure trove for highly collectable fashion eyewear pieces, showcasing the important designs from previous decades.
